Edinburgh International Course on Medicine for the Older Adult

Edinburgh, Scotland, UK

The Edinburgh International Course in Medicine for the Older Adult will be delivered in person in 2024, and there will be an excellent line up of speakers from the UK and worldwide to cover a variety of topics relevant to anyone involved in the care of older people. Although of particular value to doctors working in geriatric medicine at consultant or trainee level, many general practitioners, allied health professionals and specialist nurses may also find the course very relevant and worthwhile. The course is designed to update you on the theory and practice of geriatric medicine with many practical talks, as well as wide-ranging discussions on the holistic management of the older adult. Delegates will also be invited to participate in a social programme comprising of a welcome drinks reception, a medical-themed walking tour of Edinburgh, and a course dinner at a local restaurant (places limited.)

Fragility fractures are a pervasive and challenging health concern that demands our utmost attention. These fractures not only result in physical pain and disability but also carry a considerable emotional and economic burden for patients and their families. Addressing the multifaceted aspects of care for fragility fractures requires systematic, well-coordinated multidisciplinary teamwork to holistically deliver best practices.

RANZCP NZ FPOA Conference 2024

The RANZCP NZ Faculty of Old Age Conference is being held at The Waitangi Treaty Grounds from midday Thursday 7 March to around 3.30pm Friday 8 March 2024. Australian and New Zealand Society for Sarcopenia & Frailty Research Annual Scientific Conference

Sarcopenia and frailty are potentially devastating conditions that affect many people globally and present a major challenge to the functional independence and quality of life of our older population. The theme of this year’s meeting is ‘From Lab to Life: Bridging the Research to Practice Gap for Sarcopenia and Frailty’. Our innovative and dynamic program will showcase new knowledge on preventative and treatment strategies for sarcopenia and frailty, and how these approaches may be translated into clinical settings. Speakers will include local and international experts, emerging researchers and participants from across the research and practice spectrum. Our scientific program includes ample opportunities for delegates to network in-person, attend a pre-conference workshop and submit abstracts for oral and poster in-person presentations.

Australian Dementia Research Forum

The Australian Dementia Research Forum is the premier annual event that brings together dementia researchers, health professionals and policy makers, as well as people living with dementia and their families and carers, to discuss the latest research, innovations, and best practices in dementia. The theme for the ADRF2024 is Turning the Tide on Dementia, with particular focus on exciting new innovations in the field. The Forum is a meeting place for national and global experts to share the latest developments in dementia research, care and policy and to challenge perceptions of living with, or caring for someone with, a dementia diagnosis.
